A Sustainable Winchester District

The Winchester District's Local Development Framework (LDF) sets out land use planning and policies for the area and and will eventually replace the District's Local Plan.

Both the LDF and the Community Strategy aim to promote the creation and maintenance of sustainable communities now and in the future. These two documents are closely linked, with the LDF delivering this aim through a range of policies and proposals for change, improvement and development in the District.

What is a sustainable community?

Sustainable communities are great places to live, work, and do business, but also take care of the environment and leave a good legacy for future generations.

Live for Future campaign

We are currently running the 'Live for the Future' campaign which invites people to let us know what is good about where they live, and how they think the Winchester District needs to change and adapt to make sure it continues to be a great place to live, work and visit in the future.

The first set of consultation for the campaign has now finished and a report has been published setting out the findings of the consultation as well as all the raw data collected.

Where can I find out more?

The links on the right hand side of this page will give you more information about the LDF in the Winchester District.

There is also a special meeting of Winchester City Council's Cabinet which keeps an overview of the LDF. The reports which are sent to this Cabinet will give information on the developing LDF.
