Community Strategy refresh 2010 - consultation
Welcome to the 2010 refresh of the Winchester District Community Strategy
The Community Strategy is an important document for the Winchester District as it sets out a vision of how we want the area to be like now and in the future, and what needs to be done to get us there.
The Community Strategy is developed by the City Council, but it needs to reflect the aspirations and concerns of everyone who lives, works and visits the District. As it tackles some of the big issues that affect our quality of life, the Community Strategy needs to be delivered by a while range of organisations and individuals.
This year we are looking to make the Community Strategy more focussed on the issues which really need addressing. This means picking out the areas in the District where we need to focus our efforts and setting out issues to be tackled in order of priority.
The main differences are as follows:
i) the reduction of the number of outcomes for the District from five to three. These are active communities, a prosperous economy and a high quality environment;
ii) the inclusion for the first time of two clear priorities for the coming four years. These are supporting older people and making our services more accessible.
iii) a greater emphasis on geographical differences in the Winchester District.
