Community Safety Patrolling Officers

In addition to working with Hampshire Constabulary, Winchester’s Community Safety Team works closely with other uniformed officers who regularly patrol the district or specific geographical areas. Patrolling officers have a variety of roles specific to the organisation that they work for e.g. responding to environmental issues, providing public reassurance, sign posting to support services, dealing with low level crime and ASB

There are a variety of teams working across the district and for the purposes of reducing crime and disorder the following teams are regular contact with the Community Safety Partnership.

  • Accredited Community Safety Officers - employed by Hampshire County Council
  • Police and Community Support Officers - employed either by Hampshire Constabulary or funded by Business Improvement Districts
  • Neighbourhood Wardens - employed by Winchester City Council
  • Street Pastors - volunteers funded as a church initiative with support from Business and other partnerships
