Community Focus

Winchester Community Safety Partnership (WCSP) is responsible for ensuring that all communities across the district are provided with a variety of opportunities to engage with multi-agencies. The partnership wants to engage with local people so that they can make us aware of any concerns they may have in relation to community safety issues. In response to this requirement, the partnership continues to develop engagement opportunities for communities to contribute to the setting of priorities from a local perspective.

By focussing on local community priorities the Partnership hopes to:

  • Increase the communities confidence that WCSP is tackling issues at a local level
  • Increase community involvement in the decision making progress
  • Provide a greater feeling of empowerment which encourages wider participation in crime reduction activity
  • Reduce the levels of concern around crime and disorder, to help ensure that community perceptions of crime levels better reflect the reality

Members of the public can contribute to setting local priorities in a number of ways. This includes participation at:

  • Parish Safer Neighbourhood Panel
  • PACT meetings
  • Street Brief sessions
  • Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team Beat Surgeries
  • Completing local surveys e.g. ‘your community your voice’, crime and disorder questionnaires
