Community Focus
The Partnership intends to involve communities a lot more in determining priorities for their locality and to feedback regularly our progress on those agreed priorities.
- By focussing on local community priorities the Partnership hopes to achieve the following:
- An increase community confidence that WCSP is tackling the right issues at a local level
- Greater involvement by communities in the decision making process to provide a greater feeling of empowerment which encourages wider participation in crime reduction activity
- A reduction in the levels of concern about crime which will help to ensure that community perceptions of crime levels better reflect reality

Policing Pledge - Update from Hampshire Constabulary
The Home Secretary, Theresa May, has recently announced that the public confidence target and the policing pledge have been scrapped. Therefore the link to the Policing Pledge has now been removed from the Hampshire Constabulary website.
Following the announcement Chief Constable Alex Marshall said: "I fully support the reduction in targets and hope this will mean less inspection of what we do and more time to get on with policing. The Home Secretary was clear that she still expects the elements within the pledge to go on but the ‘brand’ and inspection process will end."

Partnership And Communities Together
Winchester Community Safety Partnership (WCSP) has recently developed a Community Engagement Plan which has been circulated to all Parish Councils and Winchester City Council Elected Members. The plan sets out simply and clearly how members of the Parish Council and Community representatives, can influence police and partnership work within their local area, as part of a new initiative called 'Partnership And Communities Together' (PACT).
A copy of the Community Engagement Plan, the letter sent to all Parishes and a partner’s contact sheet are now available as downloadable documents. Please refer to the relevant sub section.
