Community Focus
A copy of the Community Engagement Plan, the letter sent to all Parishes and a partner’s contact sheet are now available as downloadable documents. Please refer to the relevant sub section.
The Partnership intends to involve communities a lot more in determining priorities for their locality and to feedback regularly our progress on those agreed priorities.
By focussing on local community priorities the Partnership hopes to achieve the following :
- An increase community confidence that WCSP is tackling the right issues at a local level
- Greater involvement by communities in the decision making process to provide a greater feeling of empowerment which encourages wider participation in crime reduction activity
- A reduction in the levels of concern about crime which will help to ensure that community perceptions of crime levels better reflect reality

Partnership And Communities Together
Winchester Community Safety Partnership (WCSP) has recently developed a Community Engagement Plan which has been circulated to all Parish Councils and Winchester City Council Elected Members. The plan sets out simply and clearly how members of the Parish Council and Community representatives, can influence police and partnership work within their local area, as part of a new initiative called 'Partnership And Communities Together' (PACT).

Update from Hampshire Constabulary Safer Neighbourhood Team
As part of the Policing Pledge Hampshire Constabulary Safer Neighbourhood Teams are aiming to produce twice yearly newsletters which will be used to feedback within their local areas what they have been doing to tackle the issues that have been raised as priorities for their communities. Each team’s newsletter will be made available in key locations such as libraries, posts offices and community centres across District.
All police Safer Neighbourhood Teams across the district have produced a newsletter. To see an example of the Meon Valley Safer Neighbourhood Team Newsletter see the related download. As more of the Newsletters become available in electronic format they will be accessible from this page.
The Safer Neighbourhood Team newsletters will not replace the current local updates that each Safer Neighbourhood Team already provides at Parish and Public meetings or in Parish Magazines. The introduction of the twice yearly newsletter is meant to be a supplement to the information that is already being provided.
For more information on any of the issues raised please contact the Community Safety Team on 01962 848 423 or via email: sdrinkwater@winchester.gov.uk
