Strategic Assessment
Each Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership (CDRP) is required to produce an annual Strategic Assessment. This assessment will be used to identify issues effecting public safety in Winchester.
April 2009
The Winchester Community Safety Team (CST) is conducting a survey about the Alcohol Exclusion Zone (AEZ) on behalf of the Winchester Community Safety Partnership (CSP).
The Winchester AEZ was introduced in July 2005 and initially covered the City Centre area only, but was extended in June 2007 to include Abbotts Barton, Highcliffe, Littleton, Stanmore, Weeke and Winnall. The AEZ does not make drinking in a public place an offence but does give police the right to ask people to stop drinking in public and provides a power of arrest, under the Criminal Justice Police Act 2001, if an individual refuses to stop drinking alcohol when asked to do so by a police officer.
We are conducting this review to assess how well the AEZ has been operating. Your views and experiences in relation to this assessment is important to us, so please take part in the survey.
