The Winchester Community Safety Partnership funds the post of a Community Safety Intelligence Researcher and Analyst. The post holder undertakes a variety of analytical crime and disorder projects which require in depth research. These include:
- An annual audit on all crime and disorder issues within the Winchester District, with a six month review - see Strategic Assessment section.
- Monthly reviews of crime trends that inform the multi agency Community Tactical and Co-ordinating Group (CTCG) – see Performance section.
- Quarterly performance updates in relation to the delivery of WCSP Priorities – see Performance section.
- Annual research in relation to all CSP priorities and research commissioned by individual partner agencies – see attached link.
- Baseline reports for task and finish groups which are subgroups to the CSP management group – see attached link.
During 2011 the analyst has undertaken research on:
Licensing Review - researching alcohol related crime and disorder in Winchester related to the night time economy in the city centre, assessing the impact of proposals for extending the current saturation policy.
Open Spaces – Providing a baseline report for the annual Winchester Open Spaces ASB summer Campaign 2011, which supports the Hampshire Constabulary ASB Summer campaign. In 2010 reductions of 10.1% occurred in Anti Social Behaviour compared to the same period in 2009.
Criminal Damage profiles for rural communities. Identifying areas with increases in vehicle damage. Profiles included key locations, seasonal trends and specific targeting patrol times.
An evaluation of the ASB Panel and in 2011 the Panel was renamed the ‘ASB Support and Intervention Panel’. This is because the panel will widen it’s remit to include vulnerable and repeat victims of ASB. The panel is ever evolving and the changes reflect the need to expand and develop in line with best practice.
A summary of the key findings from research undertaken by the CSP Intelligence Researcher and Analyst during 2010 are available as a related downloadable document from this page.
