Winchester District Children and Young People Partnership

Projects

One of the key aims of the Partnership is to maximise the use of existing resources.  To achieve this, the Partnership works together on identified projects that involve a number of agencies and which could not be achieved by any one agency alone.  Projects currently underway include the following:

A Play Strategy for Winchester District

The Big Lottery has earmarked a sum of £200,000 for the Winchester City Council area to create, improve and develop local play provision (for children and young people up to 15 years of age) in areas of identified need. One condition attached to the funding is the production of a local play strategy ...... (Click here for more details)

Children's Centres

Children's Centres are being established across Hampshire.  One already exists in Winchester District (Lanterns) and three more are proposed, at the Carroll Centre in Stanmore, Winnall Primary School and Wickham CE Primary School.  The Partnership hopes to play a part in ensuring that a wide range of services from a multitude of agencies are available at these Centres.

Greater involvement of children and young people in decision making and supporting their community

This will include the adoption of ‘Hear by Right’ standards, specific measures to gather input from hard to reach and marginalised groups, and the establishment of a youth forum. As part of this effort, the City Council, in partnership with Hampshire County Council, will be looking to roll out its Citizenship Programme following a very successful pilot.
