Economic Prosperity Group
Winchester's economic prosperity strategic outcome group aims to carve the way forward in partner's activities for the benefit of the local economy. The group meet every other month to discuss the strategic direction of a number of specific projects, and identify gaps where they can join together and improve the local economy. Consultation on the Local Development Framework has meant the developing plans have a strong economic element.
The group also regularly receive reports from the Winchester Business Improvement District, and more recently, on the rural LEADER funding. John Harrocks, Chief Executive of the North Hampshire Chamber of Commerce and Industry chairs the group. Cllr George Beckett, Leader of Winchester City Council also attends the group meetings, along with representatives from the urban and rural businesses, the tourism sector, and others with an economic interest.
