Winchester Community Learning Forum

The Winchester Community Learning Forum (WCLF) was originally set up by the local arm of the Hampshire and Portsmouth Learning Partnership (HPLP) in January 2002.

The WCLF aims to give adults living and / or working in the Winchester district access to learning and the opportunity to continue to develop their potential throughout their life for the benefit of themselves, their family, their work and their community.

Its Role:
  • Provide a strategic view to inform future planning for lifelong learning services within the local area.
  • Be the "learning arm" of the Winchester District Strategic Partnership (WDSP) and be represented on the Steering Group of the WDSP.
  • Report views, decisions and progress to the Steering Group of the WDSP.
  • Develop a District Learning Plan and Thematic Task Groups as required by the education and training aims of the Community Strategy.
  • Map existing provision, good practice and funding sources.
  • Provide local intelligence to the Strategic Area Review process.
Its Remit :
  • Identify the lifelong learning priorities of the local community.
  • Work collaboratively to address those priorities.
  • Ensure quality assurance is central to all learning opportunities within the WDSP area and work towards continuous improvement.
  • Provide a collaborative framework for the Strategic Area Review.
Membership

The membership will reflect the widest possible range of service providers, to include public, private, voluntary and community sector representation. It will involve representatives from agencies, organisations and the local community to ensure that all needs and views contribute to decision making.

The Group will nominate a member to Chair the Group and to represent the group and lifelong learning in the local area as a full member of the Steering Group of the WDSP.

Focus

The Forum’s focus includes older learners, Black and Minority Ethnic communities and family learning.
