Indicators

So that we know how well we are doing in working to achieve Economic Prosperity in the Winchester District, we have set a number of indicators to measure our progress.


These are:

EP1.a) Number of visitors to Winchester (2004 staying trips – 269,000 / 2004 day trips – 3,949,000

EP1.b) Visitor spend

EP2. Number of empty commercial premises in the City (No Data - but possibly could be measured by those advertising via the commercial properties database held by invest in Southampton)

EP3. Number of VAT registered businesses located in rural areas of the Winchester District

EP4 Proportion of Winchester district food producers as members of Hampshire Fare (Source: Hampshire Fare's database)

EP5 % population in receipt of:
• Income Support
• Income-based Job Seekers Allowance
• Working Families Tax Credit

EP6 Number of under 25 year olds starting their own businesses

EP7 % difference in employment rates between the wards with the highest and lowest rates

EP8 Number of over 50s in employment

EP9 Average income for over 50s

EP10 Number of over 50s in education or training

EP11 Number of VAT registered businesses in Winchester District

EP12 Number of businesses surviving more than two years

EP13 Unemployment rate

EP14 % difference between wards with the highest and lowest literacy and numeracy skills/proportion with NVQ Levels 2,3 and 4 qualifications

EP15 % difference between wards with the highest and lowest rates of 19 year old students achieving NVQ Levels 2 and 3 

EP16 % difference between wards with the highest and lowest rates of pupils leaving school without any GCSE or equivalent educational attainment

EP 17 Rate of benefit take-up by eligible older people

EP 18 % disabled people in employment

EP 19 Number of people employed in businesses located in rural areas

EP 20 Diversity of businesses in rural areas

EP21 Planning permissions granted for change of use for redundant farm buildings

EP22 Indicator re local supply chains and procurement policies EP23 Footfall measure for Winchester Town

EP24 (University undertaking research on size of creative economy – indicator to be created)

EP25 Number of licenses granted to pubs/ restaurants etc against new licenses granted
