The Winchester District Strategic Partnership has identified a High Quality Environment as one of its key outcomes in the Community Strategy. Lots of partnerships, organisations and individuals play a role in making sure that Winchester District is an attractive and accessible place to live.

What do we mean by this?

Neighbourhoods are clean, 'green' and safe. Resources are used efficiently and pollution levels are low. Natural wildlife species are thriving. The District is adapting to the effects of climate change and has low emissions of greenhouse gases. The historic environment is conserved and local distinctiveness is protected and enhanced. Communities are well designed and built, and inclusive.

The priorities for action are:

• Biodiversity is thriving in the District
