A number of seminars have been held as part of the work towards the High Quality Environment outcome.
Climate Change: the opportunity - 23 April 2009
Representatives from town and parish councils attended this meeting which gave a briefing on the Winchester District Strategic Partnership Climate Change work, and consulted on the role of parish councils in tackling climate change.
Winchester's 20% Carbon Challenge - 9 June 2009
This seminar brought together organisations and businesses to get a shared understanding of the Winchester District Strategic Partnership Climate Change Framework and Action Plan, and agree the actions needed to ensure that by April 2012 Winchester District will
achieve the planned 20% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
Carbon Sensitive Procurement Seminar - 9 September 2009
This seminar provided an opportunity for organisations in the Winchester District to learn together how to:
- Reduce carbon emissions by getting your procurement policies right
- Specify for ‘green’ contracts (learning from best practice examples)
- Procure greener energy
This seminar also started work to explore how procurement policies might be harmonised across the district so that there is scope for greater collaboration in the future.
