Preparing Winchester for the Games

............become more involved in the lead up to the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games

This event is being brought to you by the Winchester District Sport and Physical Activity Alliance (SPAA) and will provide an opportunity to find out more about how residents in the Winchester District can become more involved and prepared for London 2012.

The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games will raise the profile and give a massive boost to sport and physical activity in the UK. It will heighten the demand for sporting activities and encourage more use of sports facilities.

The aim of the event is to encourage anyone who is interested in the London 2012 Olympics to work together using existing resources to make the lead up to 2012 and beyond a very special time for the Winchester District. This period will offer us a once in a life time opportunity to use the biggest sporting event in the world to encourage as many people as possible to participate in sport.

The event will take place on Monday 25th June, 7 - 9.30pm at Westley Court, The Wessex Conference Centre, Sparsholt College and will include presentations from Paddy Herlihy, South East Co-ordinator for 2012 Games; Danny Crates 2012 ambassador and Paralympian Gold Medalist and workshops where ideas can be shared amongst fellow attendees.
