Winchester Town Access Plan & High Street Refurbishment
Have your say about access in and around the town
Would you like to see more Park and Ride sites? less congestion? Or would you like to see the creation of areas where pedestrians and cyclists can safely interact with traffic moving at slower speeds?
These are just some of the questions which residents will be asked as Winchester City Council and Hampshire County Council work together to develop an Access Plan for Winchester.
The plan will be aimed at shaping the way we move in and around the town and at making the best use of the highways and public spaces. The Access Plan will follow-on from the Winchester Movement and Access Plan that was developed in the early 1990's, and aims to preserve and enhance the town's streetscape whilst encouraging economic prosperity and improving accessibility for all.
As part of this process, we would like to hear your views on the access issues that affect you. To help us do this we are holding a public exhibition where you can drop in at a time to suit you on the following dates:
Friday 7th March 2008 (1pm to 6pm) &
Saturday 8th March 2008 (10am to 1pm)
Saxon Suite - Winchester Guildhall
We will be consulting on a number of accessibility issues such as traffic management, public transport, parking, 'shared space' environments, walking and cycling; with a view to developing an access plan for the next 10-20 years.
We are also seeking views on potential improvements and proposals for the High Street, particularly with regard to both paving and vehicle access arrangements.
