However in 2018 I experienced a medical problem which necessitated me being admitted to a Hospital in France for several days where I received various tests and treatment. We are not able to accept cancellation requests of annual multi-trip policies issued prior to 1 January 2020.
The one reason I take RP is because of its comprehensive nature. I sometimes only take the breakdown insurance because I already have annual medical insurance which is mainly used for other types of holidays. So there we are. It's now as clear as mud. A caravan needs to be serviced as a condition of Red Pennant. Or it may not. Red Pennant is a belt and braces cover and that is reflected in its cost. It is run by The Club and we have huge experience at assisting our members through the many problems experienced. Red Pennant is not just breakdown insurance, it is holiday protection insurance and . ... . By the time I reached home at the end of February in 2020, Covid had arrived on the scene and I haven’t needed Red Pennant since. Are people aware that one of the conditions of Red Pennant is that your caravan is serviced according to the "manufacturer's specifications"? Or at least it may be! tiz', if you took out RP insurance in January this year was it an annual policy, if so then they should not have sold it to you as they were fully aware that you could not travel and effectively 'use that policy if needed'. If it was a one off policy for a date in August then I feel that it was unfair of them to take your money and should have advised you to take out the policy nearer to the date of travel when one would know what the situation would be with respect to foreign tarvel and Covid restrictions.

However, Mollysmummy has a point, RP could perhaps offer more of its cover as options thereby giving members more choice of what to insure and perhaps obtain cheaper cover. If you’re involved in an accident or breakdown whilst on holiday abroad and you have to leave the motorhome, car and/or caravan there, make sure:If you are travelling to these destinations, the Club cannot offer motoring assistance and you are advised to arrange and pay for your own assistance and submit a claim for consideration on your return home. You will need to keep all original invoices and receipts to support your claim. Roadside assistance provided by our Red Pennant product can help you if you breakdown whilst touring abroad.
