I still enjoyed this fourth book, although some parts were a bit underwhelming, and although it wasn't a new favorite, these stories and this series brings a feeling a comfort and familiarity that I seek. I still love the idea and concept of the stories, and even though they're repetitive, that's what I enjoy. I would've liked for us to interact more with the staff, as I so enjoy their quirks and conversations. With faces both familiar and new, Tales from the Cafe follows the story of four patrons who visit to take advantage of café Funiculi Funicula's time-traveling offer and revisit moments with family, friends and lovers. Each one must face up to the past to move on with their lives. It is up to each individual to decide how they feel about the words of others and what action they wish to take.”

There's still so much that could be done with this concept but well, it's a good read the way it is. Our first story in Before We Say Goodbye is about Monji Kadokura, a husband who wants to travel to the time before his wife, Mieko, fell into a coma. He realizes he didn’t properly appreciate what she did as a wife and mother. Monji only pursued his career in archaeology without spending time at home with Mieko and their three children.
