Incidentally, PCL manufacture their own Euro-compatible fittings called "XF". These are Euro fitting and are incompatible with the original PCLs Again, these can be tightened with a pair of nippers. I don't but Jubilee clips as they are quite bulky and can catch on stuff Our wide range of air line fittings are ideal for connecting components and air tools, and are compatible with Irish style couplings. Take advantage of the high quality car tools available at low prices from Euro Car Parts. PLE? Most of the hoses I've looked at have either PCL ends or threaded ends, either NPT or BSPT. Most non European tools seem to come with a NPT female threaded body, so I make up my whip hoses by using an appropriate NPTM (male) x barbed air hose connector, a length of air hose, two crimp connectors (which technically require a special crimp tool but in reality can be pressed to fit using a bluntish pair of carpenters nippers) and a barbed air hose x Euro male end. This is a BSPT male x barbed hose connector and a hose crimp with the crimping tool and a hose cutter (sorry, no spare other ends or hose at the moment):TECALEMIT is a specialist in dispensing technology; mainly for diesel, fuel, oil, lubricants and AdBlue® that is rugged, reliable, easy to use and cost effective; who are proud of their "Made in Germany" heritage. Despite their compact size air hose fittings and connectors play a very important role in the overall performance of air compressors and the air tools that they are used with. The fittings maintain a constant flow of air and pressure within the hoses so that the performance of the air tools is not compromised. Having durable and reliable air tool fittings and air tool couplers is hugely important for the safe and efficient operation of your air tools. Our superb air tool fittings and couplers can enable you to extend your air supply and/or help you create more complex air systems to suit your needs. To ensure the equipment is in its optimal working condition the fittings must be kept in good working shape.

Standard adaptors (commonly referred to as PCL’s air fittings) are the standard UK profile, these adaptors are longer than Euro adaptors. A standard adaptor is suitable for applications up to 14 bar / 200 psi, and will connect to PCL’s Airflow, Vertex, Safeflow and Non corrodible couplings – which coupling you decided to choose is down to whether your application is fixed, trailing hose, require a safety coupling or if it is being used in damp environments. The collated flooring nailer in my previous post uses this type of banjo crimp at the body end of the whip hose Do I stay with the shorter Euro tyoe ends sds my blowers/tyre inflator/sprayer etc all have these or do I swap to the longer PCL type. The Standard and XF-Euro profiles do not interchange, for example, an XF-Euro adaptor will not fit into a UK style coupling. A standard adaptor will loosely fit into an XF-Euro Coupling, however this will result in a loss of air flow, so it important you have the correct profile. PCL is part of the HORN GROUP of companies, joining the TECALEMIT brand offering products and services related to air, fluids and fuels. They are all 3/8in (I think), but 1/4in is another common size, especially on smaller tools with limited air consumption Experience over 80 years of innovative tyre inflation and compressed air products from Pneumatic Components Ltd (PCL).

By using couplings there is technically no limit to how long you can make the hose. As a general rule, it is always better to have a single, longer hose than to have multiple hoses connected together. The more connections present, the more likely it is you will experience pressure drop. Another way to buy a hose is simply to buy one with BSP threaded ends (often 3/8in BSPM or 3/8in BSPF) and add your own adaptors, such as these (from top to bottom - BSPM x Euro female, BSPF x Euro female, BSPM x Euro male, BSPF x Euro male): Don't forget gloves are an essential item to have in your tool box and these are very popular with our customers:

Should I use Teflon tape on air fittings?

PCL is recognised as the global market leader in the design and manufacture of tyre inflation, air line accessories and compressed air products for industrial, petrol forecourt and automotive markets. This ongoing success has been built on providing superior customer service with the commitment of a loyal and highly skilled workforce.
