About this deal

Traditional witches may incorporate many forms of witchcraft into their practice, but it always has a base in history and tradition. It’s quite common to research and focus on Wicca as a traditional witch. 1. Eclectic Witch Traditional British witchcraft was not religious but called upon 'the old ones' (and variants thereof) to help with magical works. It's as informal as it gets. A traditional witch might spend a long time preparing for a ritual spell, or she might utter a curse on the spot. 13. Celtic Witch Hereditary Witch: unique to each family and contains many aspects of traditional paganism; passed down through generations

A cosmic witch is all about the sky. They will look to astrology, astronomy, and the stars and moon in general. They tend to incorporate energy from the stars in their practice and may especially like to study past life astrology. Chaos Magic: a contemporary magical practice that blends all types of magic and is based on certainty in the magic used The eclectic witch encompasses all different types of witches and types of witchcraft. It is basically a little of everything! Celtic Witch: based on the study and worship of ancient Celtic deities, mythology, earth magic, and ceremonial ritesA Green Witch builds her life around such things as gardening and herbalism. She may specialise in essential oils, flower crafts or nature study. She may also incorporate other natural skills like healing and divination. A green witch may also be known as a hedge witch. Or a very hungover witch. 34. Healer If you practice kitchen or hearth witchcraft, you probably love smells, baking/cooking, or learning about herbs and spices. Your power stems from the actual process of cooking or baking and the emotions you put into it.

You can work as a solitary witch or as part of a group, though any coven related to the hearth usually isn’t very large. 20. Cottage Witch Unlike other types of witches, the covens of Dianic witches are much more exclusive. Dianic witches are all women, and they worship the Roman goddess of hunting and the Moon, Diana. Some Dianic witches revere other feminine icons too, but no one comes above Diana. They worship her symbolic triad: the Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone. Eco-pagans are usually environmental activists. They work hard to raise public awareness of problems. They often incorporate rituals that bind or oppose those they see as 'enemies of the planet'. The belief that nature is sacred underpins everything they do. Eco-paganism embraces witchcraft and other branches of paganism as long as they share their values. 25. Egyptian WitchcraftA hedge witch almost always practices alone, or is at least not a part of a group or coven in regular routine. I see hedge witches as the traditional “medicine men/women” of past centuries, whether they were a part of a tribe or lived in a small cottage in the European countryside. They have many names: white witch, pillar (Cornish), wise woman (or man). They work their trade among the population, their skills advertised through word-of-mouth. There aren't many left, but they are still around if you can find them. These are hereditary witches; their skills and knowledge passed down and expanded through the generations. 32. Gardnerian Tradition A storm witch generally casts spells based on the weather rather than based on the moon and needs a whole lot of chaotic energy to pour into a spell. This is a pretty strong type of witchcraft! A divination witch essentially focuses, at least quite a bit, on divination practices. This can mean literally any type of divination practice such as Tarot, astrology, scrying, pendulum, meditation, etc.

A hereditary witch, also known as an ancestral witch, believes that witchcraft is a gift passed down from ancestors. A Hedge witch works with the liminal spaces and the spirit realm. In the past a ‘hedge’ would mark a boundary of a village or settlement and thus represents the boundary between our physical reality and the spirit world. A hedge witch may be skilled at crossing that boundary through practices like astral travel. 8. Kitchen Witch

A witch who works alone and under their own steam rather than with a group of other witches. A solitary witch can follow one particular branch of witchcraft or a combination. Hereditary Witch I'm listing 60 of them here, but there are many more, as well as new hybrid paths. You may discover that you're interested in more than just one of these types of witchcraft, so I encourage you to explore and find the right one for you. Am I a Witch? For example, I was born in Cornwall, where there is a robust tradition of wise women and men. Known as pellers or pellars, they were an integral and vital part of society. True, there were plenty of frauds among them. And occasionally, someone was wrongly (or rightly) accused of malevolent witchcraft and imprisoned. It’s likely that at least a few different types of witchcraft will call to you. However, remember that your power will be the strongest when you’re using the elements that you’re most drawn to, which is why it’s helpful to do a bit of research before you dive right in. Are There More Types Than Just These 23?

This path covers a wide-ranging variety from Druidry, neo-paganism, Hedgewitchery, and the like. Simply put, it is any nature-centric witchcraft. 23. Eclectic Witch Alexandrian Witchcraft is like Guardian Wicca in that it is a formalized belief system which contains it’s own traditions and initiations. Alexandrian witches follow some of the similar traditions in Guardian Wicca, but also incorporate ceremonial magic as well as the Qabalah. 3. Solitary Witch You can use these plants in travel spells, communication spells, and any spell that relies on the air element. A folk witch practices folk magic passed down through their family or through their local community. They often focus on the history and origin of a practice and may work with plants and objects that are native to their location. Baby Witch

Air element magic is the first topic of our elemental magic series. This element is one that has been a little bit mysterious for me over the years, and I rarely work with it. Learning happens best when it's an up-close and personal experience with a teacher who is invested in your success. An Augury Witch divines omens, signs, and symbols. They are not a fortune-teller exactly, yet they can interpret whether a proposed course of action is good or bad. They can aid anyone on a specific spiritual quest. 11. Axis Mundi Witch An Eclectic witch is someone who pulls from various witchcraft traditions for their spellwork and rituals. They rely on a variety of different cultures, beliefs, and systems to formulate their own personal witchcraft practice which may change and evolve over time. 5. Traditional Witch
