Tom calls his Granny and Granddad on his Dad’s side “The Fossils” because they’re VERY old - although most of the time, they have more energy than him. Reviews

Readers are introduced to Tom’s best mate Derek, who is also his neighbour, and band mate in the cool band Dog Zombies! We meet Tom’s grumpy older sister Delia, who is on the receiving end of a lot of Tom’s cheeky and audacious pranks. Not forgetting Tom’s annoying arch enemy - Marcus, who he has to sit next to everyday in class… Tom navigates all the ups and downs of growing up, making friends, getting through school and avoiding as much homework as possible! funnyI know . . . I’ll draw something . Mr. Fu lle r ma n w ith h a i r . . . (A my s ti l l not impressed .) 37 A new girl has moved in next door — a girl who hates him and keeps pulling faces. His grandparents are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary and Uncle Kevin thinks it would be a great idea to get a family portrait taken. Tom doesn’t. And as usual, Delia is being very grumpy.

THIS book is FULL of EXCELLENT stories to make you LAUGH! Oakfield Town is having a PARADE and everyone wants to take part. ESPECIALLY Marcus (no surprise there). Mum and Dad have left Delia in charge, which is NEVER a good idea. And I find out that trying to have a sneaky scoop of caramel ice cream doesn't end well. BUT at least my doodling is as SPECTACULAR as ever. A new television series based on the Tom Gates books is currently airing on Sky in 2021. [6] Personal life [ edit ] It was sooo funny. I like funny books it is great. i'm glad I found it. I liked Tom the best because he is really funny. Yes I would definitely recommend it. British author and illustrator Liz Pichon began her career as a graphic design artist creating cover art for a music label. As her art style developed, she began selling prints on a wide range of products. In 2004, she published her first book both written and illustrated herself called Square Eyed Pat. She has since published several other books outside of the Tom Gates series. Pichon has no plans to stop creating Tom Gates books, nor other books! Her latest book outside of the Gates series is called Shoe Wars, published in 2020, and features a large cast of hilarious characters. She’s not looking. She’s ignoring me. . . . I think. So I might as well stop writing nice things now and draw a doodle instead. (This cheers me up.) Marcus by a gets squished I like the part "Buster got on a window", "Tom drew a drawing of Mr Fulerman". The author ( Liz Pichon)thinks of things - everybody could laugh at. From the winner of the Roald Dahl Funny Prize, the Best Book for Younger Readers - Red House Children's Book Award, the Waterstones Children's Book Prize 5 - 12 year-olds and the Blue Peter Best Story Book Award 2013, comes the ninth amazing instalment of this brilliant series! Top of the Class (Nearly) follows Tom as he runs for the school council and TRIES to be top of the class. As per usual things don’t quite go according to plan… If only Tom could follow his own TOP tips for being Top of the Class! 1. Stay awake in lessons (it helps.) 2. Don’t draw HILARIOUS pictures of your teachers. 3. AVOID the class bully to stay out of trouble. 4. Don’t let Mum and Dad write ANYTHING in your school planner. 5. Don’t let your grumpy sister Delia BOSS you around. (Technically not a school issue – but still important.) My thoughts: This is the place to learn about all the brilliant things happening for Tom Gates — 2021 is an epic year for Tom, his family and friends!
