About this deal

He joins her at Follyfoot, and throughout the series, there is a certain romantic chemistry between them. All Dora's dreams come true when she meets the horses. As a child, she had passionately wanted a pony, but her parents never let her have one. Dora's disillusionment with her privileged life seems to echo Monica's feelings about her own life. Born into a well-off family in London in 1915, Monica was a rebel, who was expelled from St Paul's Girls' School after throwing her school uniform into the River Thames. Initially, she worked in domestic service and then became a nurse. Later, she worked in an aircraft factory. Despite coming from a well-to-do family, she experienced real life and worked in several menial jobs. Gip Willens (Bryan Sweeney): young boy who loves horses but has little idea how to look after them. After Ron spins him a line about Follyfoot being a place where horses are tortured, Steve has his work cut out trying to convince him otherwise and it takes the near-death of Gip's horse to win him round. However, on DVD, Series 1 (episodes 1 to 13) was released in 2007. Series 2 was released on DVD in April 2008, with Series 3 following in October 2008. [7] The DVDs are Region 2 encoded, and in PAL format. A complete boxset of the series was released in late 2008.

Midnight Is a Place 1 9 7 7 - 1 9 7 8 (UK) 13 x 30 minute episodes Orphaned Lucas Bell (Simon Gipps-Kent) lives… The eccentric Colonel is a horse lover who owns Follyfoot Farm, a sanctuary for distressed, neglected and rescued horses. SUMMARY: 2 in 1 volume containing the first two books in series: The House at World's End & Summer at World's End.Wendy Bendiger ( Elaine Donnelly): a brief love-interest for Steve, which causes much upset for Dora. She eventually breaks up with him, which Steve puts down to their class difference. Dora and Steve are invited to the Colonel's house for lunch to meet a young friend of his. But Dora takes an instant disliking to him due to his boasting. She challenges him to a show-jumping race, which he confirms he will win. While it's going on, the Colonel is taken ill and Dora abandons the race. She later realises that his ill health could mean the end of Follyfoot. A much-loved children's television series, Follyfoot was set in a sanctuary for abandoned horses. Aimed at making a statement about the poor treatment of horses and other animals in British society, it carried a remarkably hard-hitting modern message, despite being a product of the early 1970s.

Cast: Maxine Barrie (Nurse), Terry Cantor (2nd Bystander), Lynne Perrie (Woman), Sammy Sharples (Simpkins), Bryan Sweeney (Gip Willens), John Swindells (Policeman) Blake studied acting at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and began her professional career in the late 1960s. She appeared in the 1969 film Goodbye Mr. Chips. She went on to perform additional roles on television. In 1971 she landed the lead role in a Yorkshire Television Production Follyfoot, which ran for three series until 1973. Her last role of note was in two episodes of the BBC2 Playhouse series in 1980. The book became the inspiration for the TV series Follyfoot almost a decade later. The series had a massively pro-animal stance. Characters who saw horses as disposable and of no use once they could no longer work were shown in a distinctly negative light. Follyfoot Farm is a retirement home for old or unwanted horses, invariably horses rescued from a cruel fate or cruel owners. It's run by the Colonel who is helped by his stepdaughter, Callie, and two stable-hands, Dora and Steve. These three youngsters have plenty to do at the stables, but can always find time to get involved in the mysteries and adventures that abound at Follyfoot.Cast: Gillian Bailey (Callie Holmes), Paul Guess (Lewis Hammond), Greg Powell (3rd Man), David Richardson (Groom), Edward Underdown (Matthew) Anne of Avonlea 1 9 7 5 (UK) 6 x 60 minute episodes A sequel to the 1972 BBC series Anne of Green Gables,… In episode five, a former pit pony, affectionately known as One White-Foot Charley, was played by a pony actually called Charley, but he had never been near a pit in his life and was a much-loved family horse. TOP NOTCH STORYTELLING. Even if this is such an old book it is still absolutely fantastic. They don't write stories like these anymore and I completely loved them. Can't recommend these enough for all ages.

The Follyfoot Quiz book is fairly easy to find in the UK, although not as common as the Follyfoot titles themselves. It is hard to find elsewhere. She had a great love of all animals, but particularly horses, and was heavily involved in the work of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, along with several humanitarian charities including the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children and the Samaritans. A co-author (even someone who wasn’t a series insider) who could have offered insight into the characters – and perhaps into the social history that time has turned the series into – would have made this book very special. Ron Stryker ( Christian Rodska): the third of the trio of young workers at Follyfoot but also the shadiest. He is known to the police and one of his friends is Lewis Hammond, member of local miscreant gang the Night Riders. His father persuaded the Colonel to give him a job at Follyfoot to help keep him out of trouble, yet Ron is workshy and ignores constant warnings not to burst through the main gate at Follyfoot with his distinctive Triumph Tiger motorbike. Despite the rough exterior, Ron is essentially warm-hearted and loves the horses as much as everyone else. Ron is already working at Follyfoot when Dora, then Steve, arrive. Follyfoot was broadcast by ITV for two years, until 15th September 1973. It was repeated for a further two years after the initial run. It used to be broadcast in the late afternoon every Sunday. It was repeated again in the 1980s.
