What is the WDSP?

The Winchester District Strategic Partnership (WDSP) is a term used to describe all partnership working in the District that is contributing to making our Community Strategy happen. It isn’t just one group of organisations, it’s a number of partnerships, groups and organisations. So our Sports and Phsycial Activity Alliance, Community Safety Partnership and Transport Forum are all part of the WDSP – to name but three!

Why work together?

Working together in partnership has been recognised for a long time as the best way to address the really imprortant issues that we face in the District – like childhood obesity, reducing our carbon emmissions, making sure the District is a good place to do business so we have a good economy and ensuring the services we provide can be accessed by everyone. If a range of different organisations and partnerships work together and pool their efforts, it is more likely that a real difference can be made to the quality of life of those people living and working in the District.

The issues that the WDSP is working to address are set out in the Winchester District Community Strategy. This document guides the work of the WDSP’s partnerships and partners.

How does it all work?

The Community Strategy covers a range of areas that the WDSP will work on, so its important that everyone knows who is doing what and that the work is co-ordinated.

Although when we talk about the WDSP, we mean the total of all partnership working going on to deliver the Community Strategy, there are a few groups of partners who keep an overview of partnership activity, make sure the strategy is being delivered as efficiently as possible (i.e. making sure there isn't any duplication and people are linking up with others where it will help) and support those doing the delivering.
